This week’s Shout Out is devoted to one of my new and most favorite products: Miracle Clay

Being that I have a great many-a-health “challenges” as you can learn more about here. I am always in search of something to reinforce my immune system naturally, whether it’s in a whole food supplement or external treatment for my skin or joints.

I’ve been using the clay mask for about 6 months or so, occasionally. And while I’ve been enjoying the way that my skin felt I didn’t really know much about the healing properties of Montmorillonite Clay. Or the fact that the NASA astronauts had used the clay to strengthen their immune systems with it. Or that the ancient indigenous referred to it as the “mud that heals” to soothe everything from chronic IBS to major infections.

With so many antibiotic resistant infections looming out there in the world today, it’s a wonder we aren’t all wearing surgical masks to keep well. Some would argue that it’s important to fight off those bacteria, to encounter some small dangers in order to prevent the perilous ones. I love that they offer a Green Tea that includes the clay in the tea bag, there’s no mess or fuss. I seriously love this tea, I hope they have it on backorder because I’m all about it right now. But all endorsements aside, it’s really important to be aware of the products you’re using on your skin. A good rule of thumb is if you can’t pronounce it, you shouldn’t use it. Unfortunately what people don’t know about the ingredients their “tried & true” products can hurt them. Ingredients like sodium lauryl sulfate a known carcinogen (which is a fancy word for disease causing) is in just about any kind of soap, shampoo, bathwash etc. just because it creates the bubbles when you scrub up. We may be thinking that we’re getting clean when we wash our hands, or our hair, or children with these products, however we’re getting a mega-super human dosage of nitrates straight to our largest organ, our skin & then our liver tries to clean up the mess. Our skin absorbs everything, and it needs to breathe. Which is why it’s so important for simple, organic (a.k.a pesticide free) products, lotions, oils, just like mineral clay.

When applied to the skin, the clay not only absorbs the toxins that are ready to be purged (which is quite a burden that’s been assigned to the skin) but also sends neutralizing ions back into the body. This is the clay’s best feature to be aware of. There isn’t another product on the market that does this. It truly is a miracle clay.
