Meet Amber
Hi All! I’m Amber and I’m happy to say that I’m living my dream. When asked as a kid what I wanted to do when I grew up my response was always that I wanted to be a Mom. And being that my Mom stayed home with my brother and me, I wanted to do the same. Never in a million years did I ever realize how tough this dream would be! Thankfully I had an amazing example of not only awesome parenting, but of marriage as well. My parents have been happily married for over 40 years and I very much am planning on following in their footsteps.
My husband, Derek and I, are coming up on our 7 year anniversary and I can hardly believe it. Seems like just yesterday we were discovering our equal dislike of chocolate. Yes, you read that right, neither one of us likes chocolate! We knew we were meant to be at that moment, ha! Seriously though, I am so lucky to have such a great hubby who supports me in every which way. From giving me my sometimes very much needed breaks from mommy hood to starting a new blog adventure with friends.
Together we make a great team raising our two little boys. My baby boy, Drew (aka Drew-gee), has melted my heart since the moment I laid eyes on him. He is me in every which way. Looks, personality, and unfortunately it seems as though he’s inherited my height (or lack thereof) as well. He is one independent dude and yes he is also as stubborn as his mama too.
And then there is my oldest son, Troy (aka Troy Boy), who has been his daddy’s little mini me since the moment he arrived. From his beautiful blue eyes, his brilliant mind, determination, and all the way to his tall stature. Thankfully he got his athleticism too because that is something this girl does not have. As brothers they are so different that the experience raising each of them at each phase has been its own. Witnessing the brotherly bond is an amazing sight to see. And at two and four they are already telling secrets and conspiring against us. We are in trouble!
As a former (and now freelance) graphic designer I love anything creative. From home remodeling to simple art projects with my boys, and getting creative in the kitchen. Like a lot of kids, mine aren’t too keen on the veggies (although they never stop eating!), but I make it work. I try to always set a good example (not always easy), letting them in on the cooking and juicing action (no matter what the mess may be), and sometimes just good old sneaking the veg in. As a lifetime yo-yo dieter and constant struggle with my weight setting my kids on the right path to health is something I hope to instill in them.
I’m hoping through this blog I can share the so many life experiences I’ve encountered and will encounter. Not only as the fun loving down and dirty mom I strive to be, but also just by being the everyday girly girl that I am. I hope you learn, laugh, and enjoy!
